Getting buyers to fall in love with a dream home

Finding the perfect house is like falling in love; you spend a significant amount of time searching for the perfect match with the qualities you are interested in, and when you finally find ‘the one,’ you fall into a state of blissful contentedness and desire. There is often plenty of time for courting and romance to ensure that you really are great matches for one another – a luxury that often cannot be afforded when hunting for a new home since time is an important factor. So what should you do? Take to the housing market’s equivalent of Internet dating?

It is a possibility, of course, and why not? There is a myriad of wonderful resources out there that allow you to virtually tour a home, see photos, and read beautifully scripted information. Much like Internet dating, these are great resources for narrowing down your options, but you wouldn’t marry someone you’d never met before, and on the same merit, you definitely shouldn’t buy a house without first visiting it in person and getting better acquainted with it.

There’s nothing quite like taking that first step into a potential home with an agent, basking in its glory and grandeur, and reveling in the thought that this house could possibly be ‘the one’. Sure, you can get a good idea as to what a house has to offer just by browsing its profile, but there’s no way of knowing if it really is the perfect fit without inspecting it in person. As a buyer, you need to balance convenience of online tools with the necessity of actually visiting a home.

You don’t want to fall for a hunky piece of real estate only to find out later that it has hidden problems that you weren’t able to see online.
